Hike Mt. McCoy to the Ronald Reagan Library in Simi Valley
February 15, 2020 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

It’s Presidents’ weekend and the perfect time to visit the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley. As hikers of course, we will find a way to take a scenic hike to get there! The trail to Mt. McCoy is one of the classic hikes in Simi Valley. From the shopping center meetup location, there is a short walk through a residential community to the trailhead. The hike to Mt. McCoy is 1.5 miles with 600 feet of elevation gain on a mostly single track dirt trail with lots of switchbacks. The mountain top has a large cross that has scenic vistas for miles in all directions. We’ll take a rest stop at the top to enjoy the view. As there are multiple routes to the top, let’s please try to stay together. From Mt. McCoy, we take the Reagan Library Connector Trail of 1.1 mile descending the mountain a couple hundred vertical feet to the entry road and up a hundred vertical feet to the Library.

Following our tour of the Reagan Library, we will take the same 2.6 mile route back to our Meetup location. The five mile round trip hike will take two to three hours of total hike time.
