Simi Valley Things to Do

Coquina Mine Trail

Coquina Mine Trail is a scenic moderate hike through Las Llajas Canyon that leads to historic remnants of early limestone mining and offers expansive views of the Santa Susana Mountains. Traversing a mix of well-groomed fire road and steeper single-track, this out-and-back route winds up toward an abandoned surface mine site where fossil-rich limestone and old mining equipment sit as fascinating landmarks along your journey.

How to Get There:
The trailhead begins off Evening Sky Drive in the Marr Ranch Open Space. From here, follow the path toward Las Llajas Canyon and look for the turnoff leading up toward the mine ruins and overlooks.
